Music Director
Music Director, Tianhui Ng
Hailed by the Boston Globe for elevating the experience of new music from “great to unforgettable,” conductor Tianhui Ng is fast becoming one of the most sought-after interpreters of new music in the United States.
Since 2022, Ng has served as the Music Director of the New England Philharmonic, leading the launch of New Music New England, a new program celebrating the composers of new music in New England, and an expansion of the historic Call for Scores program, including additional visibility for finalist composers and reading sessions for composers with less access to orchestras, led by the orchestra’s Composer-in-Residence, Eric Nathan.
Ng also serves as the Music Director of White Snake Projects, where he has led more than 50 premieres, including Jacobs and Sosa’s Alice in the Pandemic, which the Library of Congress chose for their special collection recognizing the production as one of the most significant works of art in the United States during the pandemic.
This season, Ng looks forward to his debut with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and the Canterbury Singers performing the world’s first opera fully sung in Chickasaw, Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Shell Shaker, numerous broadcasts on New England Public Media with the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts Victory Players, and audience favorites like Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, and Bartok’s Wooden Prince with the New England Philharmonic.
